Students Clash in Kwara State: Over 10 Injured.

Tension erupted in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Monday as students from two secondary schools engaged in a violent clash, leaving more than ten students injured.

The incident, which occurred in the Adeta area, involved students from Government High School and Government Day Secondary School. Eyewitnesses report that the conflict stemmed from a prior disagreement that escalated into a full-blown melee.

A witness recounted, “The issue started about two weeks ago and culminated in what appears to be a reprisal attack. Over ten students were wounded, and the chaos caused panic in the area.”

Some sources speculated that the clash may be linked to cultism and a struggle for supremacy among the students.

Authorities Respond

Kwara State Ministry of Education’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, stated that the ministry is preparing an official statement on the matter.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP) confirmed the incident, revealing that officers had arrested several suspects during a random intervention while the clash was ongoing.

She added, “Investigations are still underway to uncover the root cause of the fight.”

Growing Concerns

The incident has raised concerns about student violence and the potential influence of cultism in secondary schools. Parents and community leaders are urging authorities to intensify efforts to address the issue and prevent future occurrences.

Further details are expected as investigations continue.
