President Tinubu Embarks on State Visit to France
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit aims to deepen bilateral ties between Nigeria and France in various sectors, including politics, economy, and culture.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the visit will provide opportunities for strengthened partnerships in areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth development, and innovation.
President Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will be formally received on Thursday at the historic French military museum, Les Invalides, and later at the Élysée Palace. Initial ceremonies will lead into a series of bilateral meetings between Tinubu and Macron.
During the discussions, both leaders will align their positions on fostering exchange programs to enhance youth skills in automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. They will also deliberate on shared values in key areas such as finance, solid minerals, trade, investments, and communication.
A session by the France-Nigeria Business Council is also on the agenda, focusing on private sector contributions to economic development. Meanwhile, Brigitte Macron, France’s First Lady, and Senator Oluremi Tinubu will engage in discussions centered on women and child empowerment through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The visit will conclude with a state dinner hosted by President Macron in honor of the Nigerian delegation. President Tinubu and his wife will be accompanied by high-ranking government officials throughout the visit.
