Tinubu’s Wife and NSA Ribadu to Lead National Prayers Amidst Nigeria’s Challenges
In light of Nigeria’s complex issues, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu are set to spearhead a national prayer session. This initiative, organized with the cooperation of both Christian and Muslim leaders, seeks divine assistance to confront the various crises affecting the nation.
During a briefing held in Abuja, Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), officially announced the initiative. Under the theme “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,” he emphasized the need for unity and collective action, believing it essential to address Nigeria’s challenges.
“Through this prayer session, we hope that God’s wisdom will guide our leaders and citizens in confronting our shared challenges,” Afolorunikan stated. He expressed optimism that Nigeria could enter 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose and stability.
The planned prayer sessions will be held at significant religious sites. Muslims will gather at the National Mosque in Abuja for a week-long session, where 313 individuals will recite the Qur’an daily. Over the course of seven days, the Qur’an will be read a total of 2,191 times, a dedicated plea for national peace and stability.
At the same time, Christian prayer gatherings will be hosted at the National Ecumenical Centre. Representatives from various denominations will come together for focused prayer, addressing the challenges that currently confront the nation.
Afolorunikan also highlighted the extensive outreach efforts leading up to the event, noting that meetings were held with religious leaders, including representatives from the National Mosque, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and traditional authorities like the Sultan of Sokoto. The initiative underscores the belief that through unity and faith, Nigerians can seek solutions to the country’s pressing problems.
