Police in Jigawa State have arrested a bride accused of poisoning food served at her own wedding, resulting in the death of a guest and leaving the groom critically ill. The incident occurred in Jahun Local Government Area and has left the community in shock.

 

Details of the Incident

 

The identities of the groom and the deceased guest had not been disclosed at the time of reporting. Witnesses suggested that the bride’s actions might have been motivated by a personal vendetta, though the exact reasons remain unclear.

 

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, Shi’isu Adam, the matter is under investigation. “We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception, which left the groom in critical condition,” Adam stated.

 

Arrests and Investigation

 

The bride, along with another female suspect, has been taken into police custody for questioning. Both are being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department to determine their involvement in the food poisoning incident.

 

Adam reassured the public that the authorities are committed to uncovering the truth. “We will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served,” he said.

 

Health Updates on Victims

 

Aside from the deceased guest, all other affected individuals who consumed the tainted food have been treated and discharged from the hospital. The groom remains hospitalized in critical condition.

 

While investigations are ongoing, the police have called for calm, assuring the public that justice will prevail. Adam added, “We are working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and will provide updates as soon as possible.”
