Bringing the Akpos Brand Back Home

At a press luncheon held in Lagos, AY, the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment and executive producer of the film, shared his vision for the project. He explained the decision to focus on a locally relatable story:

“We decided to bring the Akpos brand back home after showcasing it internationally. The idea is to highlight homegrown content and connect it to our local audience. This story is going to be the best yet—better than anything I’ve done before. To create quality films, you have to invest heavily, and this one is a huge-budget production.”

A Director’s Challenge Turned Triumph

Toka McBaror, the director of The Waiter, revealed his initial skepticism about the ambitious project but expressed pride in the final result. “When I first read the script, I told AY it couldn’t be done because of the writer’s massive imagination,” McBaror said. “But AY insisted we could, and I’m glad we took the risk.”

With over 25 years of experience in the film industry, McBaror described The Waiter as a standout project. “I’ve never been fully satisfied with my work before, but this one is different. It feels special, and I’m confident audiences will love it.”
