Nigerian Troops Capture Wanted Terrorist Habu Dogo and Seven IPOB/ESN Commanders

In a recent counter-terrorism operation, Nigerian troops apprehended a notorious terrorist leader, Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, along with seven commanders of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The arrests were announced by the Defence Headquarters, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb terrorist activities across the nation.

According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Habu Dogo was captured in Rumji Village, Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Dogo, who has been on the security watch list in both Nigeria and Niger Republic due to his cross-border terrorist activities, was a significant target for security agencies.

In addition to Habu Dogo, the troops arrested seven IPOB/ESN commanders in the South-East. Among those detained were Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha, also known as “Chapet,” who were taken into custody in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. Mrs. Ngozi Chukwuka and Mr. Oyekachi Ohia were apprehended in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.

Further arrests included Mr. Ifeanyi Eze, Mr. Augustine Udemba, and Mr. Onyedikachi Udemba, all detained in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. Additionally, Elijah Mmaduipeya Obumneke was captured in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

Maj.-Gen. Buba noted that ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations have been systematically degrading the combat abilities of terrorist groups across Nigeria. The arrests of these high-profile figures mark another step forward in the nation’s mission to restore stability and security.
