Ola Olukoyode, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has initiated an immediate investigation into bribery allegations involving some of the agency’s officers and social media influencer Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
The allegations surfaced after social media personality Verydarkman posted a video claiming that certain EFCC officials had accepted over 15 million naira from Bobrisky in exchange for dropping money laundering charges against him.
In response, the EFCC released a statement on Tuesday, September 24, announcing the formation of a special investigative team to look into the claims. Both Bobrisky and Verydarkman have been invited by the Commission to assist in the investigation.
The EFCC reassured the public that the investigation will be thorough, with the findings made publicly available. The Commission emphasized its commitment to upholding its values of integrity, courage, professionalism, and collaboration, noting that this inquiry reflects its dedication to transparency and accountability.
As the investigation progresses, the EFCC encourages full cooperation from all involved parties. The Commission’s swift action aims to preserve public trust and reinforce its stance against corruption in any form.
